Welcome to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Parish!
Our parish is a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, in the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Parish was founded in 1934. Our parish’s ethnic makeup is varied – many are of Ukrainian and Carpatho-Russian ancestry. There is an interesting mix of family names due to intermarriages. So we are loyal to all nationalities. The parish celebrated its 80th Anniversary on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 with an Archpastoral Divine Liturgy served by His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, ruling hierarch of the Eastern Eparchy and concelebrated with local clergy.
Currently, our parish membership is about 45 persons.
Services at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin
Divine Liturgy and services in our parish are celebrated almost 100% in the English language.
We are following the revised Gregorian Calendar (New Calendar).
Parish Feast-day is celebrated on the Nativity of the Theotokos (September 8)
Confession can be heard prior to Divine Liturgy (please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of Liturgy) or by appointment.
Please remember that Holy Communion is only offered to Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves through prayer, fasting and sincere repentance of their sins (Holy Confession). Everyone is invited to partake of the “prosfora/antidoron” (blessed bread) which is a reminder of the “agape feast” that followed worship in the early Church at the conclusion of Divine Liturgy. If you would like to participate in the sacrament of Confession, either before or after Liturgy, please let Fr. Vasyl know.
Everyone is welcome to join our community following every Sunday's Divine Liturgy for fellowship while sipping coffee or tea and enjoying some light refreshments in the Church Hall. Special luncheons, potlucks, picnics and feast-day celebrations are announced either in the bulletins or on the upcoming events page. We pray that you join us for Liturgy and fellowship afterwards.
